Vacancies

We are a long established (since 1958) and thriving Choral Society in the growing town of Didcot in South Oxfordshire. We have around 60 members with a good balance across the four voices and although we are non-auditioning, we perform traditional and modern choral music to a consistently high standard.  We have the following vacancies:

Professional Musical Director  from September 2019– Didcot Choral Society (registered charity)

Following the departure of our MD of 10 years, we are looking for a Professional Musical Director from September 2019 for our rehearsals (Tuesdays 7.30-9.30) and for our three concerts a year, usually early December, Easter and June.  We also take part in collaborations with other musical groups and frequent musical tours.

While we welcome applications from those at all stages in their career, the successful candidate would be an enthusiastic and skilled musician who shares our emphasis on participation and enjoyment for all singers of whatever ability and experience level while striving for very high standards of performance. You would be supported by an enthusiastic team of volunteers and an experienced and understanding committee, with whom decisions about repertoire would be made in a collaborative manner. Competitive rates would be paid for rehearsals and concert fees. There are good transport links to the rehearsal venue, which is within walking distance of Didcot Parkway station.

Please apply with CV and covering letter stating how you would fulfil our job description and with two referees to our Chair, Alison Lane at alison@ajlane.co.uk by Monday 27th May 2019.  Please call Alison on 07915 094842 for an informal chat if you would like to discuss further or have any questions.  Interviews and auditions in early June.
