Jane Powell

Role in the choir:
Accompanist

Jane Powell graduated from the Royal College of Music with a 2:1 honours degree in 1988 as well as an ARCM Diploma in piano teaching. Upon graduation she was awarded the Margaret Pagon-Jardine prize for the best female student in both practical and theoretical subjects as well as the Adami prize for piano accompaniment. She was lucky enough to study piano with the world renowned pianist Peter Wallfisch and also Harpsichord with Robert Woolley. She then completed an advanced post graduate diploma in Piano Accompaniment and it was at this point that she was invited to be the official accompanist for the opening of the Britten Theatre (RCM Opera School) and had the honour of performing in front of both Prince Charles and the Queen Mother. Since leaving the Royal College of Music she has enjoyed a varied career, performing and teaching throughout the UK. She is currently the rehearsal pianist for Newbury Festival Chorus as well as the official accompanist for the Wantage Music Festival. Prior to being appointed Director of Music at Cranford House School in Moulsford in 2006, she held teaching positions at Wycombe Abbey School, Pangbourne College, Bradfield College and St Andrew’s Prep School. She is very much looking forward to accompanying Didcot Choral Society.
